The National Nature Reserve of the Etangs du Romelaëre originates from ancient peat bogs whose exploitation, mainly in the 19th century, gave rise to the various bodies of water on the site. The Romelaëre is an area of about 100 hectares dedicated to the conservation of biodiversity and welcoming the public, including people with reduced mobility thanks to a landscaped trail of nearly 2 km. It is also the starting point for many hiking trails.
