Facing the Strait of Pas-de-Calais, the Cap Gris-nez site has a European reputation for observing migratory birds. These cliffs, made of sandstone and marl, dominate the sea by about 50 metres. The aerhaline meadows on the cliff edge are worth a look in May, the flowering period of the Sea Thrift. The tip of Cap Gris-nez was redeveloped as part of Operation Grand Site in 2008 to support the arrival of approximately one million visitors per year. It is now accessible to people with reduced mobility. Lookout points offer breathtaking views of the Strait, Wissant Bay and Cape Blanc Nez, and you may be lucky enough to see seals swimming below.
